đ Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission into the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Course for the academic session 2026-2028 must satisfy all eligibility conditions prescribed by SCERT Assam. Admission will be offered through the Pre-Entry Test (PET)-2026 and subsequent counselling process.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] Examination from a recognized Board/Council.
- A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is required, excluding marks obtained in the optional/extra/fourth subject.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H) categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks requirement.
Permanent Residency Requirement
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- Selected candidates must produce valid proof of permanent residency during document verification.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 34 Years
- The age will be calculated as on 01 July 2026.
- Candidates belonging to SC, ST(P) and ST(H) categories will receive 2 years relaxation in the upper age limit.
Reservation Policy
- Reservation for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), EWS and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will be provided as per Government Reservation Policy.
- The following benchmark disability categories (minimum 40% disability) are eligible under PWD reservation:

Stream-wise Seat Reservation
- In every district, 30% of total intake capacity will be reserved for candidates from the Science stream.
- The remaining 70% seats will be reserved for candidates from Arts and other streams.
- Separate district-wise merit lists will be prepared for Science and Arts/Other stream candidates according to reservation rules.
Admission & Merit Criteria
- Admission will be open for all recognized Teacher Education Institutes (DIET, CTE, Normal School, BITE, BTC and Private TEIs).
- District-wise merit lists will be prepared based on marks obtained in PET-2026.
- Institute allotment will be made according to PET score, reservation category, counselling preference and availability of seats.
- The total intake capacity for the D.El.Ed. session 2026-2028 is 4150 seats.
- A certain number of seats will be reserved for untrained regular LP and UP teachers appointed on compassionate grounds under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam.

đ§Ē Selection Process
Admission into the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Course for the session 2026-2028 will be conducted through a multi-stage selection process comprising the Pre-Entry Test (PET)-2026, district-wise merit preparation, online counselling, institute allotment and document verification. Candidates must successfully complete every stage to secure admission.
Stage 1: Online Application Submission
- Eligible candidates must submit the online application form through the official PET portal.
- Applicants must upload all required documents and pay the prescribed application fee of ₹600.
- Only successfully submitted applications will be accepted for PET-2026.
Stage 2: Issue of Admit Card
- Admit Cards will be available for download from 05 July 2026 onwards.

Stage 3: Pre-Entry Test (PET)-2026

Candidates will receive one of four Question Booklet sets (A/B/C/D). Answers must be marked only on the OMR Answer Sheet using a blue or black ballpoint pen. Evaluation will be done through computerized OMR scanning and no manual evaluation will be conducted.
Stage 4: Preparation of District-wise Merit List
- District-wise merit lists will be prepared based solely on PET-2026 marks.
- Separate merit lists will be prepared for:
- Science Stream Candidates
- Arts & Other Stream Candidates
- Reservation benefits for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), EWS and PWD categories will be applied as per Government norms.
- The district selected by the candidate during application will be considered for preparation of the merit list.
Stage 5: Online Counselling
Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must participate in online counselling. Participation in counselling is mandatory for admission.

Stage 6: Institute Allotment
