🎓 Eligibility

Candidates must fulfill the educational qualification, age limit, nationality and other eligibility conditions prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission for Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2026.

Educational Qualification

  • For all posts except Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO):
    • Bachelor's Degree with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; OR
    • Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II:
    • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
    • Statistics must have been studied as a subject in all three years or all six semesters of graduation.
  • For Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO):
    • Essential Qualification: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University.
    • Desirable Qualifications:
      • Chartered Accountant (CA)
      • Cost & Management Accountant (CMA)
      • Company Secretary (CS)
      • Master in Commerce (M.Com)
      • Master in Business Studies (MBS)
      • MBA (Finance)
      • Master in Business Economics (MBE)
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation may also apply. However, they must possess the essential qualification on or before 01 August 2026.
  • Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates obtained through Open and Distance Learning mode are acceptable only if recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Distance Education Bureau (DEB).
  • Candidates possessing equivalent qualifications must produce the relevant Equivalence Certificate during Document Verification.

Nationality / Citizenship

  • A citizen of India; OR
  • A subject of Nepal; OR
  • A subject of Bhutan; OR
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; OR
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 27 to 32 Years depending upon the post applied.
  • Age will be calculated as per SSC notification and post-specific requirements.
  • Age relaxation will be applicable for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories as per Government of India rules.

Physical Standards (Where Applicable)

  • Certain posts such as Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), Sub-Inspector and similar enforcement posts may require candidates to satisfy prescribed Physical Standards and Physical Tests.

Document Verification Requirement

  • All candidates shortlisted for Document Verification must produce original educational certificates, mark sheets and other supporting documents.

đŸ§Ē Selection Process

Selection under SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 will be conducted through multiple stages including Tier-I Examination, Tier-II Examination, Document Verification and Final Merit Preparation. Candidates must qualify each stage as prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission.

Stage 1: Tier-I Examination (Computer Based Examination)

Tier-I is a qualifying Computer Based Examination conducted for screening candidates for Tier-II. Marks obtained in Tier-I may be used for shortlisting candidates for the next stage as per SSC rules.

Candidates qualified in Tier-I will be eligible for Tier-II Examination. Tier-II consists of multiple papers depending upon the post applied for.

Negative Marking in Tier-II

  • Paper-I (Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning): 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-I (English and General Awareness): 0.50 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Negative marking applicable as prescribed in SSC notification.

Stage 3: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)

Data Entry Speed Test is mandatory for all candidates appearing in Tier-II. The test is qualifying in nature and candidates must achieve the prescribed typing/data entry speed as specified by SSC.

  • DEST will be conducted on a computer.
  • Qualifying nature only.
  • Failure to qualify DEST may lead to disqualification for applicable posts.

Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted based on Tier-I and Tier-II performance will be called for Document Verification by the concerned User Department or SSC.

  • Reservation rules of Government of India will be followed.
  • Candidates will be allocated posts based on merit, category, medical standards (where applicable), eligibility and preferences exercised by them.

Stage 6: Final Appointment

  • Selected candidates will be recommended to the respective Ministry/Department.
  • Appointment letters will be issued by the concerned User Departments.
  • Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India as all posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL).
