Procedure of application for admission:

Only Online Application Submission System is available. No physical form andprospectus will be made available in the Cotton University office. Allthe necessaryinformation is available in the University website.

Application for admission to lst Year BA, BSc and the two self financing undergraduatecourses with honours in Biotechnology and Mass Communication & Journalism inCotton University must be filled up and submitted ONLINE through the Universitywebsite www.cottonuniversitv.ac.in. The application fee of Rs. 500.00 (Rupees FiveHundred only) shall have to be paid online through the payment link provided afterregistration and login.

Admission is strictly in order of merit and is governed by the University's AdmissionRules and Regulations. The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor's decision regarding admission shallbe considered as final.

Canvassing in any form for securing admission shall render a candidate disqualified.

Applicants have to follow the step by step procedures for online application process.

An applicant must submit online for,m and application fee separately for B.A. and B.Sc. ifshe/he wants to have an option of being selected for courses belonging to both Scienceand Arts.7. Candidates not applying under EC and Differently Abled quotas need not submit aprintout of her/his downloaded application before the date of admission.

Merit List Preparation

Merit list will be prepared on the basis of

Total marks of the best 3 SCIENCE subjects of the final year qualifying Examination for ScienceStream.

Total marks of English and the best 3 other subjects of the final year qualifying examination forArts Stream.

Documents to be produced at the time of admissiona.

A printout of the downloaded copy of the application submitted online.

Original Pass Certificate and Marksheet of 10+2 examination or equivalent.

Original Reserved Category Certificate if applicable (Only certificates issued bycompetent authority from the Government of Assam shall be deemed valid).

Two Copies of recent Passport Size photograph.

Age proof: Original Certificate where Date of Birth is mentioned.

Gap in Study: Students passing the qualifying examination or a degree/diplomaexamination (from a recognized institution) earlier than the current year will have tosubmit a Gap Certificate issued from the Head of the Institution last attended or theOfficer-in-Charge of the nearest Police Station testifying to his/her activities duringthe Interim period. Candidates having more than 3 (three) years study gap will not be eligible for admission.

A set of photocopies of all the documents which should be self attested.

General Rules of Admission

A student will have one Core course, two Generic Elective (GE) courses, two Modularcourses, two Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) and two Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) offered byCotton University.

Core course and Combination of GE including Modular subjects will be offered at thetime of admission based on merit, which is subject to the availability of seats.

Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC) will also be offered at the time ofadmission.

Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC)will be allotted in 3rd and 4th Semesters.

Core subiect allotted during the time of admission cannot be changedlater.

General Reservation Rules for Admission to Undergraduate Programmes

1. The following are reservation of seats as per Government of Assam rules forcandidates belonging to the state of Assam only.

OBC/MOBC	SC	ST (plains)	ST ( hills)
15%	7%	10%	5%

Note:

Caste/Tribe certificates MUST BE issued by the Competent Authority under theGovernment of Assam.

Caste/Tribe Certificates of other state will not be valid

2. Reservation for Differently Abled (PWD)

As per Government rules, 3% of the total seats across all disciplines are reserved forthe Differently Abled candidates. The applicants under this category will have toappear before medical board by producing the relevant certificate(s).

3. Reservation Under EC Quota:

A few seats may be allotted as Extra and Co-Curricular (EC) activities quota inUG courses to students having outstanding achievements in the field of Sports,Cultural performance, NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides, etc. as per the table given below.However, EC reservation is NOT APPLICABLE for admission into Self-Financingcourses.
